"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
The Padatik Express (12377 Up) suffered an engine failure near Jalpaiguri Road station on Thursday morning, leaving passengers stranded for nearly two hours. The train was stuck between Belakoba and Raninagar stations, causing inconvenience to both on-board travellers and those waiting at nearby stations.
The incident occurred around 10:05 am, just as the train was about to enter Jalpaiguri Road station. Due to a technical fault, it came to a halt on the track, creating delays and discomfort in the morning heat. Railway staff, officials, along with RPF and GRP personnel, rushed to the spot to manage the situation and assist passengers.
After extensive efforts lasting about two hours, the train was moved to Raninagar station. There, its engine was replaced, allowing it to resume its journey towards New Alipurduar. Railway authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fault.
